Course Outline
This course aims to refresh and assess participants with the essential knowledge and
practical skills required to safely and effectively carry out multiple-layer (aerogel)
insulation and cladding/jacketing installation works. Through a combination of theoretical
instruction and hands-on training, participants will develop competency in material
handling, installation techniques, and compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH)
requirements applicable to process industry environments.
Participants will be trained and assessed to perform the following work functions:
- Perform single layer (aerogel based) insulation installation work
- Prepare cladding/ jacketing installation work
Learner’s Objective
On completion of the course, participants should be able to perform multiple layer (aerogel based) insulation and cladding/jacketing installation work in accordance with WSH rules and regulations pertaining to working in Process Industry.
- Apply advanced thermal insulation principles and material selection for different applications
- Comply with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) requirements, including risk assessment and control measures
- Interpret detailed drawings, specifications, and method statements
- Plan and prepare insulation and cladding work activities effectively
- Perform multi-layer insulation installation on pipes and equipment
- Install and fabricate cladding/jacketing with proper fitting, sealing, and finishing
- Handle more complex shapes (e.g., valves, flanges, bends, and vessels)
- Ensure quality control and compliance with industry standards
- Identify defects and carry out troubleshooting and repair works
- Demonstrate good workmanship, productivity, and safe work practices
Course Structure
Duration:
21 hours (17.5 training hours and 3.5
assessment hours) (Learners must attain 100% attendance to be eligible for the course
assessment)

Pre-Requisite
LEARNERS MUST POSSESS:
- Individual SingPass account with valid email address
- A valid STEP portal account prior to class registration (a step-by-step guide will be provided). A registration link will be provided to the workers for sign-up once their eligibility is confirmed
- WSQ Perform Thermal Insulation Work or
- ITE CoC in Thermal Insulation – Level 1
- Must be 18 years of age or older and physically capable of performing all required tasks
LEARNERS ARE ASSUMED TO:
- Have knowledge of common hazards and necessary safety precautions
- Have the ability to read and interpret instructions, diagrams and sketches
- Have knowledge of the methods and skills in the use of common equipment, materials and hand tools appropriate for insulation activity
- Be physically fit to perform all the required tasks
Course Certification
- A Certificate of Competency (CoC) will be awarded to candidates who are assessed as competent
- Tested by approved testers by ITE, tests in line with industry demands
- The CoC in Thermal Insulation – Level 2 will be granted only upon successful completion of all required assessments
- e-Certificates will be issued to individual candidates via the ITE Step Portal within 6 to 8 weeks after course completion
PAYMENT, REFUND & WITHDRAWAL POLICY
- Full payment is required upon registration
- 100% refund will be provided for cancellations made more than 14 days before course start date
- 50% refund for cancellation/withdrawal less than 14 days if no replacement candidate is provided
- For cancellation/withdrawal with replacement provided, fee waiver will be subjected to ITE Management approval
- No refund will be provided for any cancellation/withdrawal after the course start date unless with valid reason(s) but subjected to ITE Management approval

- Participants are required to bring along their identification documents (NRIC/Work Permit/IPA or Passport) for verification purposes
- Participants are required to bring along their own water bottle and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as hand gloves, goggles, safety shoes and safety helmet
