Course Outline
A welder is one who welds plates to form permanently assembled metal structures in
accordance with internationally accepted welding standards. The welding processes include 1G
- 3G welding positions, and to ensure that the welding joints meet the organization
requirement.
The work he/she performs includes the following:
- Perform shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) on mild steel pipes
- Perform gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) on mild steel pipes
- Perform quality checks on weld
- Rectify weld defects
Learner’s Objective
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to perform pipe welding in 6G position using SMAW and GTAW processes.

- Setting up welding work
- Perform shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) on mild steel pipes to pipes in 6G position
- Perform gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) on mild steel pipes to pipes in 6G position
- Rectify weld defects
Course Structure
Duration:
21 hours (17.75 training hours and 3.25
assessment hours) (Learners must attain 100% attendance to be eligible for the course
assessment)

Pre-Requisite
LEARNERS MUST POSSESS:
- Individual SingPass account with valid email address
- A valid STEP portal account prior to class registration (a step-by-step guide will be provided). A registration link will be provided to the workers for sign-up once their eligibility is confirmed
- Be 18 years old and above and physically fit to perform all the required tasks
- WSQ Perform Welding or
- ITE CoC in Welding – Level 1
LEARNERS ARE ASSUMED TO:
- Have knowledge of common hazards and necessary safety precautions
- Have the ability to read and interpret instructions, diagrams and sketches
- Have knowledge of the methods and skills in the use of common equipment, materials and hand tools appropriate to perform welding work
- Be physically fit to perform all the required tasks
Course Certification
- A Certificate of Competency (CoC) will be awarded to candidates who are assessed as competent
- Tested by approved testers by ITE, tests in line with industry demands
- The CoC in Welding – Level 1 will be granted only upon successful completion of all required assessments
- e-Certificates will be issued to individual candidates via the ITE Step Portal within 6 to 8 weeks after course completion
PAYMENT, REFUND & WITHDRAWAL POLICY
- Full payment is required upon registration
- 100% refund will be provided for cancellations made more than 14 days before course start date
- 50% refund for cancellation/withdrawal less than 14 days if no replacement candidate is provided
- For cancellation/withdrawal with replacement provided, fee waiver will be subjected to ITE Management approval
- No refund will be provided for any cancellation/withdrawal after the course start date unless with valid reason(s) but subjected to ITE Management approval

- Participants are required to bring along their identification documents (NRIC/Work Permit/IPA or Passport) for verification purposes
- Participants are required to bring along their own water bottle and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as hand gloves, goggles, safety shoes and safety helmet
