Course Outline

A blaster and painter is one who performs surface preparation using hand tools, power tools, dry blasting, and applies coating on treated metal surface as well as using spray painting to prevent surface corrosion and enhance surface finishing so that finished products meet the required international standards and specifications.

The work he/she performs includes the following:

  • Set up blasting equipment
  • Perform surfaces for painting
  • Perform abrasive-blasting
  • Maintaining of blasting equipment
  • Set up painting equipment
  • Prepare surfaces for blasting
  • Perform spray painting, brush painting and roller painting
  • Rectify paint defects
  • Maintaining of painting equipment

Learner’s Objective

Upon completion of the course, participants will be capable of performing surface preparation using wet or dry blasting techniques and applying coatings to treated metal surfaces using rollers, brushes, or spray painting. This process will aim to prevent surface corrosion and improve surface finish, in compliance with international standards and specifications.

Pre-Requisite

LEARNERS MUST POSSESS:

  • Individual SingPass account with valid email address
  • A valid STEP portal account prior to class registration (a step-by-step guide will be provided). A registration link will be provided to the workers for sign-up once their eligibility is confirmed
  • WSQ Perform Blasting and Painting Work or
  • ITE CoC in Blasting & Paintwork – Level 1
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and physically capable of performing all required tasks

LEARNERS ARE ASSUMED TO:

  • Possess knowledge of common workplace hazards and the appropriate safety precautions
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret instructions, diagrams, and technical sketches
  • Have a sound understanding of methods and proficiency in using standard equipment, materials, and hand tools relevant to blasting and painting
  • Be physically capable of performing all tasks required for blasting and painting operations

Course Certification

  • A Certificate of Competency (CoC) will be awarded to candidates who are assessed as competent
  • Tested by approved testers by ITE, tests in line with industry demands
  • The CoC in Blasting & Paintwork – Level 2 will be granted only upon successful completion of all required assessments
  • e-Certificates will be issued to individual candidates via the ITE Step Portal within 6 to 8 weeks after course completion

PAYMENT, REFUND & WITHDRAWAL POLICY

  • Full payment is required upon registration
  • 100% refund will be provided for cancellations made more than 14 days before course start date
  • 50% refund for cancellation/withdrawal less than 14 days if no replacement candidate is provided
  • For cancellation/withdrawal with replacement provided, fee waiver will be subjected to ITE Management approval
  • No refund will be provided for any cancellation/withdrawal after the course start date unless with valid reason(s) but subjected to ITE Management approval

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Participants are required to bring along their identification documents (NRIC/Work Permit/IPA or Passport) for verification purposes
  • Participants are required to bring along their own water bottle and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as hand gloves, goggles, safety shoes and safety helmet
